Holy LandDetails
Small enough to rest just below the collar, the pendant stands about 1 inch tall, a budded cross of Holy Land olive wood with white mother of pearl at its heart. The shell catches the light, the wood holds it, and each arm ends in three small buds, the trefoil sign of the Trinity scaled down to its gentlest size.
It comes from the Bannoura family workshop in Bethlehem, where the same families have carved olive wood within sight of the Church of the Nativity for generations. The modest size makes it a natural First Communion cross, fitted to a child now and still right many years on.
