What is Bethlehem Handicrafts?

Bethlehem Handicrafts is a US based online store and Christian organization that supports families in Bethlehem who hand carve unique pieces from genuine olive wood. We focus on crosses, nativity sets, rosaries, crucifixes, statues, ornaments, figures of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ, and much more. Catholic homes across America have trusted us since 2000.

What is your mission?

To preserve the olive wood carving tradition in Bethlehem and support the Christian community there. By purchasing from us, you support real families in the Holy Land who have practiced this craft for generations.

Where is the wood from? Is it really from Bethlehem?

Yes. All our olive wood comes from local groves around Bethlehem, the same groves that have surrounded the city since biblical times. Each piece is hand carved in our workshop in Bethlehem by the Bannoura family and Christian craftsmen who have practiced this tradition for generations.

Will my piece look exactly like the photo?

Each olive wood piece is hand carved, so small variations in size, grain, and finish are part of the character of the wood. No two pieces are exactly alike, and absolute duplicates of catalog images are impossible. These natural variations are not defects, they are the signature of authentic hand carved olive wood.

What kind of quality do you carry?

We import only the best quality olive wood pieces from the Christian community in the Holy Land. Our craftsmen have followed the ancient tradition of hand carved olive wood for many generations. Each piece is dried for at least one year before it is used for carving.

How much does shipping cost?

Free standard shipping on all US orders over $75. Orders under $75 ship standard for $7.00. Express delivery is $18.00 (2 business days). Overnight delivery is $50.00 (1 business day). International shipping is a flat $40.00 to most countries. For complete details, please see our Shipping Policy.

How long does shipping take?

Standard shipping takes 3 to 7 business days within the United States. Express is 2 business days. Overnight is 1 business day. International delivery takes up to 2 weeks depending on destination and customs clearance. You will receive a shipment confirmation email with a tracking number once your order ships.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship to most countries outside the United States at a flat rate of $40.00. Please note that you are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, or fees applied by your country.

What is your return policy?

We offer free 30 day returns on all eligible US orders. If something is not right, contact us at info@bethlehemhandicrafts.com with your order number and we will email you a prepaid return shipping label. For full details, please see our Refund Policy.

What if my piece arrives damaged?

Contact us within 30 days of delivery at info@bethlehemhandicrafts.com with photos of the item and the packaging. We will replace the piece or issue a full refund including all shipping charges.

How should I care for my olive wood piece?

Our olive wood pieces are coated with a soft, clear, lacquer based sealing wax to keep them intact during shipping and handling, to ensure their longevity, and to give them a hint of shine. Keep your piece away from direct sunlight to preserve the natural color of the wood. Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use water or cleaning products.

Do you offer custom orders?

Yes. For larger custom pieces or specialty designs, please contact us at info@bethlehemhandicrafts.com with your idea, dimensions, and timeline. We work with churches, schools, parishes, and individual buyers on custom commissions.

Do you offer wholesale pricing for retailers?

What name will show up on my bank statement?
