Abalone shell glows in a way glass and stone cannot, and the white abalone set into this budded cross gives it a soft, pearled light. Around the inlay, olive wood from the groves near the Church of the Nativity supplies the warmth, each arm closing in three rounded buds for the Holy Trinity.
