Three rounded lobes crown each arm of this cross, the budded form generations of Christians have read as an image of the Holy Trinity. At its heart, a panel of mother of pearl lends a soft luster to the warm olive wood around it, shell against grain in the oldest Bethlehem pairing.
The necklace comes out of the Bannoura family workshop, where olive wood carving has supported Christian families for generations and every cross still passes through hands rather than machines. Given at Confirmation, it ties a new chapter of faith to the town where the whole story began.
