In all four gospels of the New Testament, Mary Magdalene who became a devout disciple of Jesus after being liberated from seven demons. She was the first person to see and speak with Jesus after he resurrected from the dead, having seen his crucifixion and burial. She informed the apostles that Jesus was still alive.
The Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran faiths all regard Mary Magdalene to be a saint. On July 22, 2016, Pope Francis elevated her liturgical remembrance from memorial to feast, referring to her as the "Apostle of the Apostles."
