What Does the Bible Say About Pride?

Many of us struggle with pride, sometimes without even realizing it. So, let us read the word of the Lord and what He has to say about pride. Let us not see ourselves as "wise in our own eyes" but be humble. Let these bible verses sink deep in our hearts, so that pride dissolves; and love and humility flourish.

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18)

Your pride has deceived you. Your capital is a fortress of solid rock; your home is high in the mountains, and so you say to yourself, ‘Who can ever pull me down?’ (Obadiah 1:3)

But the grace that God gives is even stronger. As the scripture says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. So then, submit yourselves to God. Resist the Devil, and he will run away from you. Come near to God, and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners! Purify your hearts, you hypocrites!” (James 4:6-8)

The end of something is better than its beginning. Patience is better than pride. (Ecclesiastes 7:8)

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. (James 4:10)

This carved extraordinary wood statue from Bethlehem's olive wood in the Holy Land represents The master Jesus Christ kneeling in humble service to wash the feet of his apostles commanding us to do the same out of love for our neighbor. This set of olive wood statue comes in detachable pieces. Get this outstanding piece for your home to have the Holy Land in your hands.

The wicked are proud of their evil desires;
the greedy curse and reject the Lord.
The wicked do not care about the Lord;
in their pride they think that God doesn’t matter.
(Psalm 10:3-4)

And he went on to say, “It is what comes out of you that makes you unclean. For from the inside, from your heart, come the evil ideas which lead you to do immoral things, to rob, kill, commit adultery, be greedy, and do all sorts of evil things; deceit, indecency, jealousy, slander, pride, and folly— all these evil things come from inside you and make you unclean.” (Mark 7:20-23)

A day is coming when human pride will be ended and human arrogance destroyed. Then the LORD alone will be exalted. (Isaiah 2:11)
